MAGA Inc.'s SPLC Scam
Shutting Down Criticism From The Right
Two Tuesdays ago, the Department of Justice released a statement announcing a federal grand jury charge against the Southern Poverty Law Center. The charges allege that the SPLC secretly funneled $3 million of donated funds to various violent extremist groups, essentially, in a scheme to manufacture a “White Supremacist” boogeyman for continuous fundraising against the manufactured threat. The indictment specifically named the following groups as recipients: The KKK, United Klans of America, Unite the Right, National Alliance, National Socialist Movement, Aryan Nations-affiliated Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club, National Socialist Party of America, and the American Front. Specifically regarding Unite The Right, the indictment states that the informant referred to as F37 was a member of the Unite The Right online leadership chat group, attended the Unite The Right event at the direction of the SPLC, and made racist posts under their supervision. Additionally, F37 helped facilitate transportation to the event and received $270,000 from the SPLC between 2015 and 2023. What it does not say is that the Unite The Right Event was organized under the supervision of the Southern Poverty Law Center, and that all attendees were paid, including agitators. Unite the Right was organized by figures such as Augustus Sol Invictus and Richard Spencer, with Charlottesville local Jason Kessler serving as the permit holder for the event. The event was intended to protest the removal of the statue of General Lee and to unite the various factions of “the right” around core principles emphasizing the founding of America, specifically by Anglo-Saxon ethnic groups. Initially, less radical “Alt-Light” figures were supposed to participate but backed out in the lead-up to the event. Given the heavily anticipated presence of the National Guard and Police, the organizers and attendees expected a safe and peaceful event, despite the expected counter-protests from groups such as Antifa. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned because local authorities cancelled the permitted event and forcefully forced the rally attendees into the violent left-wing protesters, which eventually led to the tragic death of Heather Heyer, who was hit by a panicked James Shields. For a sober and objective assessment of what happened, I recommend reading Charlottesville Untold: Inside Unite The Right by Anne Wilson Smith. In the aftermath of the event, organizers and attendees were prosecuted. A false narrative was pushed out almost immediately. Yes, Joe Biden basically turned it into the main talking point for his Presidential campaign. Mainstream Conservatives were in lock step, and gatekept anyone associated with the event, which included pretty much anybody who was somebody in right-wing politics that didn’t align within the established boundaries of mainstream “Conservatism.” The Unite The Right rally most certainly was not organized by the SPLC. The attendees were not largely “paid agitators.” The truth, however, is of no concern to MAGA Inc., which is already attempting to use the Southern Poverty Law Center’s indictment to silence anyone to the right of Donald Trump.
Hundreds of attendees of the rally on that fateful day were doxed, fired from their jobs and ostracized from their social circles. Furthermore, those doxed or previously involved in politics were blacklisted from Republican circles. That’s quite a strange consequence for “paid agitators” being bankrolled by The Southern Poverty Law Center. Conservatives never quite seemed to have much of an issue with the SPLC at all, and they certainly didn’t mind that the role that they played was labelling fringe influencers and groups as “hateful extremists.” This was helpful to mainstream conservative efforts to gatekeep alternative views out of their media, events, and organizations. So what was off limits to the mainstream? White advocacy, criticism of Israel, and increasingly Traditional Christian values such as opposition to gay marriage. You might be able to get away with advocating against gay marriage at the Faith & Freedom Coalition, but good luck with that at CPAC. The SPLC didn’t lose the goodwill of the conservative movement until they overplayed their hand by criticizing Moms for Liberty and Turning Point USA. The latter of which benefited greatly from the gatekeeping of figures such as Charlottesville attendee Nicholas J. Fuentes.
Nicholas J. Fuentes was only 17 when he attended the Unite The Right Rally in Charlottesville, VA and had only recently begun his streaming career. He was a self-described America First Trump supporter at the time, but has, in recent years, been highly critical of Donald Trump and did not support him in the last election. He has consistently been critical of the United States’ relationship with Israel and has warned against war with Iran, which he has maintained as the ultimate goal of Israel. Nick has seemingly been vindicated by the recent conflict with Iran, and the war with Iran has not been popular with the general public. In the aftermath of the SPLC indictment, MAGA Inc. influence accounts are spreading the narrative that Nick Fuentes is an SPLC industry plant. Some have been claiming that at the age of 17, when he was relatively unknown, he was F37, a Unite The Right organizer. The very fact that he happened to be on vacation in Europe at the time the SPLC news broke has been characterized by figures like Laura Loomer as “fleeing the Country” to avoid legal trouble related to the indictment. Nick’s also had his residence doxed, and his family harassed by the SPLC in 2022. It is doubtful that he would receive that treatment if he were their own asset.
Nick Fuentes isn’t their only target. The list includes Candace Owens, who was also travelling at the time. Ian Carroll, Sneako, Tucker Carlson, and Patriot Front. As far as I’m aware, Candace Owens has no connections to any of the groups mentioned in the SPLC indictment. Neither does Ian Carroll, Sneako, or Tucker Carlson. There is also zero evidence that any of them are SPLC-paid agitators or props. The case of Patriot Front is an interesting one. They, too, weren’t mentioned in the Indictment documents, nor was anyone prominent in their organization tied to the event. Patriot Front is an offshoot of a group called Vanguard America, which did attend Unite The Right, but there is no evidence that they played any role in the organization of the event. None of the prominent members was listed as speakers or organizers. Patriot Front is known for its surprise public demonstrations, in which their members either stand in formation or march using military facing movements, accompanied by American Nationalist symbols.
But what do Nick Fuentes, Candace Owens, Sneako, Ian Carroll, Tucker Carlson, and Patriot Front all have in common? You may have heard them all described by MAGA Inc characters as “Woke Right.” But what is meant by that? Candace Owens and Sneako aren’t known for their White Advocacy. Tucker Carlson has touched on demographic change, but has spoken ill of White Identity and Nationalism. So it can’t be the White Advocacy specifically in this instance that drew the ire of the MAGA camp. All of them are well to the right of Trump, have large followings, and are highly critical of Trump. The theme, however, that seems to bind them most together as targets is their criticism of Israel, and seemingly Israel’s ability to drag America into an armed conflict with Iran. Perhaps had the organizers of Unite the Right been a little more friendly to Israel, the rally would have proceeded as planned without a hitch.
