For most Orthodox Christians, aside from those deluded beyond repair by Progressive propaganda, a cursory observation of American society reveals it to be chaotic and self-defeating. No society, or state governing a society, can expect an indefinite existence of prosperity when it continuously attacks the foundational unit, the family (even the Soviets figured this out). The majority of social ills promoted as virtue in our culture directly attack the means by which a healthy society would both reproduce and stabilize. The month of June brings to mind one obvious attack. The LGBTQ propaganda is clearly a movement designed to subvert traditional family structures. It is ironic, for a group that claims some sort of biological lack of choice, LGBTQ identification has more than doubled up to 7.1% of the population since 2012. If you recall, shortly before the Supreme Court’s decision on Obergefell v. Hodges, it was socially acceptable to express opposition to homosexual marriage. Now, the social pressure leverage is solidly in the hands of LGBTQ activists. The transgender agenda moves beyond the family unit, attacking the individual with profound confusion. Aside from the prevention of birth through mass acceptance of homosexual behavior, unborn children are viciously murdered about 1 million times a year in the United States. About 1 in 4 women have or will perform an abortion in this country. The final two typically make so-called “conservatives” balk and would consider opposition unthinkable. The use of birth control in this country has been devastating, allowing couples an opportunity to wait until having children is convenient (it never is). Of women aged 15 to 49 in the United States, 64.9% of them are on birth control. Conservative icon, Ronald Reagon, has nearly destroyed marriage as a serious institution in this Country. Since his passage of the first no fault divorce laws in 1969, marriage rates have plummeted and divorce rates have doubled. Through these various means of attacks, which are of course presented as compassionate and virtuous by our civic cult leaders, they have been remarkably successful at sending our society on the trajectory of rapid decline and collapse. The birth rates among all demographics, including immigrants, are well below replacement levels. Malcolm and Simone Collins over at Palladium magazine rightly point out that throughout history that growing population has always been correlated to strength and vibrancy in a society. The opposite trend leads to societal collapse, but the future belongs to the ones that show up. This brings me to contemplate the future of the Orthodox Christians here in the United States, as the Church experiences rapid growth by conversion. As the culture of death and degeneracy creates societal collapse around us, the Orthodox Christians have an opportunity to secure a significant role in the future society that arises. The Orthodox can ensure they “show up” for a seat at the table, by conversion, building families, and proper care of our children.
There is a trend popular among the “red pill” on women types, to adopt a defeatist attitude in regards to marriage. Certainly the current family court system is rigged against men by feminist judges, profiteering lawyers, and aided by no fault divorce laws. However, abandoning marriage is effectively surrendering the future, and accepting a painless suicide. Find a spouse that has an Orthodox perspective on marriage - that being of mutual struggle towards Theosis. Strive for at least four children, but more importantly accept the children that God provides without impediment with birth control. That includes utilizing a woman’s cycle in an attempt to avoid pregnancy. Accept the children as a blessing, work hard, and trust that God will provide where your efforts fall short.
Merely being an Orthodox Christian and having children is not enough. Every State pushed ideology in history has recognized the importance of influencing children, and certainly, the current regime is no different. They utilize available tools to subvert parents and influence children through the schools, internet, children's books, children’s television and movies. It is never safe to assume that media marketed towards children is innocent; in most cases, it is quite the opposite. It, thus, becomes necessary that Orthodox Christian parents protect their children from such things. Do not allow them to consume any entertainment that has not been vetted by you, and certainly do not grant them unrestricted access to the internet. It is absolutely a dereliction of parental duty, and insane, to send your child to a public school. Homeschooling is a necessity at this point. Even College and University should be approached with extreme caution, and with careful selection if a secondary education is decided upon. Most importantly, your children should be surrounded and immersed in Holiness. Turn your home into a little church, and surround them with Holy Images from the youngest of ages. Regularly attend church, and pray daily as a family.
Another trend that I’ve observed among some Orthodox Christians, and believe to be a false pietism of sorts, is the push to abstain from politics and sometimes even public discourse. Certainly those not gifted with the ability to do so, or those without an inclination, shouldn’t necessarily engage. But oftentimes people are smugly discouraged from doing so by seemingly well meaning Orthodox Christians. The truth is we do not know exactly how the future will go, and it would be wise to advocate for our values while we still can. America is a massive mission field, and public outreach and exposure (even via politics) generates conversions to the faith. More importantly, in line with showing up for a seat at the table in the future, political involvement and organization with others of like mind and values, will help us build a network and form potentially crucial alliances. It may also help us prepare to make the most of an increased population percentage in the future.
Of course we may live to see the coming of the Antichrist. However, there is no way for us to know with certainty until that happens, and we should conduct ourselves as if that won’t happen. With a society spiraling towards an inevitable collapse due to its self-defeating destruction of the traditional family structure, we have a real opportunity to secure a more influential role in whatever regime rises from the ashes. We can accomplish this by getting married, having and raising children in Holiness, Church outreach, and public involvement. Failing at either of those, could likely result in us depriving future generations of a shot at having an Orthodox Society in the West. May God help us.
